Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a shelter or a rescue?

We are a non-profit 501c3 rescue agency who is foster-based. We do NOT have a facility or shelter. Our animals are placed in foster homes until permanently adopted.

Does your rescue only adopt out dogs?

No, we specialize in pregnant moms, moms with litters and kittens/puppies.

Where do you rescue the animals from?

Typically most of our animals come from kill shelters in the southern states. We do however help shelters in our area and we do take owner surrenders if we have the foster space.

How do we visit an animal we are interested in adopting?

Your application must be submitted and approved before you can visit with an adoptable animal. Once your application is approved and adoption appointment will be set up for you to visit the pet you are interested in adopting.

Do you adopt to out of state?

Yes, you must travel to New Jersey in order to complete the adoption process.

Do you transport animals or ship animals out of state?

No we do not ship or transport to other states.

If I do not own the home where I reside can I adopt?

The home owner must be involved with the adoption process. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21 years old. We prefer you own your own home with a fully fenced in yard.

What does the adoption donation cover?

Sponsor A Dog donations are used for expenses incurred in the rescue which typically includes: shelter pull fees, transport, vaccinations, spay/neuter (NJ residents), supplies and medical bills. We include three rounds of Da2ppv, Bordetella, Dewormings, Health Certificate and Spay/Neuter to New Jersey Residents through our program.  These donations are tax-deductible.

If I live out of state how is Spay/Neuter handled?

We have a list of out of state spay & neuter clinics plus certificate programs for our out of state adopters.

How long is my application on file with your rescue agency?

Application will stay on file for one full year.

Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes, they are always tax deductible

How long will it take for my application to be approved or denied?

We ask that you give us seventy-two hours to review you application. We will respond through email, text or phone call if your application is approved. The next step would be an adoption appointment to meet the pet your interested in adopting.

What location are most of your adoption appointments completed at?

Adoption appointments would take place at the foster parents home. Most foster homes are in the Central New Jersey area or Bucks Co. Pennsylvania. We are a foster based rescue with no facility. Adoptions are done by appointment only.

Is there a way to place a hold on a dog that I’m interested in adopting?

Yes, we do offer online hold deposits for animals not ready to be adopted. Adopters must first complete an adoption application online and be approved.  You would need to call or text us directly so the deposit is marked with the correct information.

  • Hold deposits are accepted in several ways including Venmo, Zelle and our donate button on our website.  A typical hold deposit is $150 with the balance due at the final adoption appointment.
  • Deposits are refundable if your puppy becomes unadoptable for health reasons.
  • Deposits are not refundable if you do not show up for your adoption appointment, cancel due to adopting another animal, work, illness, travel or moving. Your deposit would then become a tax deductible donation to our organization or it would be transferred to another puppy.

Once you place a deposit, that guarantees your family that puppy. We ask that you are prepared to pick up your puppy once released as we do not have the space to hold after they are cleared for adoption.

How long does it take to complete the adoption process once I arrive?

Every adoption is different but we say to at least plan to spend an hour with the pet you're interested in adopting and completing final paperwork with instructions.

What do I need to bring for my adoption appointment?

We ask that you bring your ID, leash and adjustable collar (for adult dogs), blanket and carrier for puppy & kitten adoptions.

Will my new pet be microchipped?

We highly recommend you microchip your new family member. It is optional and the cost is twenty-five dollars. It would be completed before you new pet leaves the rescue.

What is a microchip?

A microchip is a permanent id the size of a grain of rice which is inserted under the skin. It holds your information so your pet can be quickly reunited if lost. Any vet, shelter or rescue can scan the pet to see who the owner is and return the pet successfully. It is not a painful procedure and is given just like a regular vaccination. Our 24Petwatch microchips come with lifetime registration.

My dog has bitten or is aggressive can I surrender it to your rescue to be placed?

We do NOT take any animal with a history of biting or being aggressive. It is a huge liability and we ask that your honest when filling out an owner surrender form. We do not want to risk anyone being hurt or another dog being bitten.
